The Ryzen 5 5500X3D is an AMD CPU that still uses the AM4 socket and is based on Zen 3. This processor is actually only available in South America, but a well-known YouTuber has now been able to run benchmarks of the 5500X3D.
Gaming CPUs from AMD with a stacked V-cache – especially the Ryzen 7 9800X3D – are becoming the gold standard for high-end gaming PCs. But even old AMD CPUs get extra cache: the 3D-V-Cache “original” 5800X3D was followed by the 5700X3D, 5600X3D and now the new (and for the time being South American-exclusive) Ryzen 5 5500X3D.
Steve Burke of Gamers Nexus with benchmarks of the Ryzen 5500X3D
The renowned hardware tester and benchmark expert Steve Burke of the Youtube channel Gamers Nexus was able to take a testing look at the Ryzen 5500X3D thanks to a viewer of his channel. This 3D V-Cache CPU was released on June 5, 2025 – as mentioned at the beginning, for the time being only in Latin America. Like the non-X3D variant, the 5500X3D is equipped with six cores and twelve threads.
The L3 cache grows to six times the size due to the stacking: instead of 16 MiB (5500 Non-X3D), the Ryzen 5 5500X3D has a total of 96 MiB L3 cache – as much as almost all other AMD CPUs with 3D V cache. Only the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D offer slightly more L3 cache with 128 MiB. And while the TDP climbs from 65 watts (5500) to 105 watts (5500X3D), the base clock drops from 3.6 GHz to 3.0 GHz. The boost clock also drops slightly (up to 4 GHz instead of 4.2 GHz).
Ryzen 5 5500X3D leaves non-X3D variant behind in benchmarks
What Steve Burke of Gamers Nexus directly notes about the Ryzen 5 5500X3D: This gaming CPU does not reach the 4,000 MHz base clock in the single-core test of the Youtube channel, but with 3,950 MHz it is 50 MHz less – a rare exception, as Gamers Nexus notes. Nevertheless, the 5500X3D fixes the main problem of the 5500: the cache equipment.
Therefore, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D usually ranks in the middle of the benchmarks of Gamers Nexus. For example, the 5500X3D ranks between the Intel Ultra 7 265K and Intel i7-12700KF – but is (not surprisingly) slightly behind a 5600X3D or 5700X3D. Overall, the 5500X3D is another option for owners of AM4 motherboards – if you live in South America.
