Microsoft has officially released the installation media for Windows 11 25H2 and made it available via Windows Insider Preview downloads. The feature update is expected to be rolled out to general availability later this year.
Windows 11 25H2, the next feature update of the current operating system from Microsoft, which is expected to be rolled out in waves via the Windows updates later this month, has been in the Release Preview Channel since the end of last month and has now also been provided with installation media, as Microsoft has now announced.
After the installation media, the so-called ISOs, had to be moved first according to an entry in the official Windows Insider Blog, they have now been released via the Windows Insider Preview Downloads for everyone who participates in the Windows Insider Program. The corresponding enablement Packages (“eKB”) are to be rolled out via the Windows updates starting this month. However, the rollout will take many months.
The system images give users more control over how and when they upgrade to Windows 11 25H2. Instead of waiting for the Windows update and installing the corresponding patches and packages, the ISO files now offer the possibility of reinstalling the operating system in the latest form.

The change from the current Windows 11 24H2 to the upcoming Windows 11 25H2 will not only take place in waves, but also fluently. Since the two versions have a common maintenance branch, a so-called “shared servicing branch”, some of the features are already incorporated into the operating system under Windows 11 24H2 and then gradually unlocked.
