The first AOC monitors with a refresh rate of a whopping 1,000 Hz are getting closer. AOC is said to be planning such a model for the coming year. However, the 27-inch monitor should work natively with WQHD and 500 Hz, the 1,000 Hz is then only available in alternative mode (dual mode) with significantly reduced resolution.
For the first time 1,000 Hz at AOC Monitors
The Chinese website IT Home reports about the 1,000 Hz monitor from AOC and refers to a message from the user “VisionTang” as the source of the information. According to this, AOC plans the monitors listed below for the year 2026.
a 27" monitor with "5K" and 165 Hz or alternatively WQHD and 330 Hz in dual mode
a 27" monitor with 4K UHD and 160 Hz including dual mode with AI
a 27" monitor with WQHD and 500 Hz or alternatively "FHD"* with 1,000 Hz in dual mode
a 27" monitor with WQHD and 420 Hz as well as a "Circular Polarized Screen"
a 27" monitor with WQHD and 360 Hz as well as Nvidia Pulsar for simulated 1,000 Hz
a 24.1" monitor with TN panel and 400 Hz
AOC Monitors 1,000 Hertz in HD or Full HD?
*With the “FHD 1000 Hz”, however, doubts arise, because so far the dual mode has always meant a halved resolution with a doubled refresh rate. In the case of native 2,560 × 1,440 (WQHD), this would mean “HD” with 1,280 × 720 and not “Full HD” with 1,920 × 1,080. The latter resolution, on the other hand, is available for dual-mode monitors that natively work with 3,840 × 2,160 (4K UHD).
It is not clear from the brief note which type of panel it is. The display manufacturer TCL CSOT had already shown a 1,000 Hz display last year, but it offers a higher resolution.
However, AOC would not be the only manufacturer to venture into the four-digit range in the refresh rate: the little-known manufacturer Antgamer had announced a monitor with 1,000 Hz for 2026 at an eSports event at the end of August. Antgamer has already introduced a monitor with 750 Hz based on the Twisted Nematic (TN) LCD technology.
AOC Monitors 5K with dual mode
With a 5K resolution with dual mode, AOC would also not be the only manufacturer, because Acer has already promised something like this for the first quarter of 2026 with the Nitro XV270X. However, the refresh rate of only 72 Hz at native 5,120 × 2,880 pixels and alternatively 144 Hz at 2,560 × 1,440 is rather low. The counterpart of AOC should bring it to 165 Hz and 330 Hz respectively.
What is meant by Circular Polarized Screen AOC Monitors?
One of the six new AOC monitors is to have a “circular polarized screen”. This refers to a display in which the light is polarized circularly rather than linearly. A so-called wave plate ensures that the incident light is rotated by 90 degrees after reflection. As a result, glare effects can be almost eliminated, but the production is more expensive than with linear polarization.
AOC has recently presented such a display with circular polarization in Asia. The AOC Q27G4SL/WS offers this technology in combination with WQHD, 320 Hz and 1 ms response time (GtG) on 27 inches. In a promotional video, it is explained that the circularly polarized light is closer to the incidence of natural light and should therefore be gentle on the eyes.
