The new iPhone Air goes on sale from tomorrow. In new short videos from Apple, the iPhone Air, 17 as well as 17 Pro are thrown, scratched and also loaded with 59 kg. Not surprisingly, the company’s own tests show: the iPhone Air and the other models can handle all the impositions without permanent damage.
iPhone Air Price and Features
The videos will be released by Apple at a convenient time. At present, although the review embargo on the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 range has fallen, but the first devices in free trade will reach buyers no earlier than Friday. Previous models have therefore presumably been made available by Apple only as a loan for the tests and only a few contain statements about the durability of the new iPhone Air. Thus, at the start of sales, Apple is still the only major source for the durability of its own products.
The demonstrations in the videos should therefore be enjoyed with caution and independent tests should be awaited if there are concerns about the durability, because the Group hardly provides any information about the exact conditions of the tests.
iPhone Air is loaded with 59 kg
TomsGuide has received a total of three videos from Apple, which are intended to show the endurance of the new models. In a first short clip, the new iPhone Air is mechanically loaded with a simulated weight of 130 pounds (58.967 kg). Although the smartphone bends significantly, it moves back to its original shape after the load without permanent damage.
Scratch test on iPhone 17
The new Ceramic Shield 2 should be up to 3 × more scratch-resistant than the previous coating of the iPhones. Apple has not yet commented on exactly what scratch resistance results from this. A video is now to show how the new screen protector is touched by an electric arm with a tip made of an unknown mineral and does not cause any damage.
The traces can be easily wiped away and therefore probably come from the mineral itself, TomsGuide writes. Ceramic Shield 2 is installed on both the Air and the Pro, as well as on the regular iPhone 17. So, the test implies a transferable result to all new iPhones.
iPhone 17 Pro drop test
In addition, Ceramic Shield is now used to strengthen the integrity of the glass back of the iPhone 17 Pro and Air. In a drop test, Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro was dropped from different heights to different ground hardnesses by a robotic arm. The Pro model puts away the shocks quite unimpressed.
The display remains intact despite the popping up, the aluminum does not look damaged. However, from what heights Apple has actually thrown the model on which floors now, it is not clear from the article.
iPhone Air independent tests coming soon
The opportunity for destructive testing of the new models begins this weekend, when privately purchased iPhones reach industry giants like JerryRigEverything , AllState Protection Plans , and more. The first independent drop and scratch tests should appear next week.
