Samsung’s world’s first Micro RGB TV is said to be “hardly distinguishable from reality” thanks to its particularly precise color control. This comes at a price.

Samsung has announced the official launch of its micro RGB TV, which is to be the world’s first display to rely on a micro-format RGB LED backlight with a huge 115-inch screen and promises “brilliant brightness and hyper-realistic shades”.

The Micro RGB technology developed by Samsung has individually controllable red, green and blue LEDs with a size of less than 100 µm in an ultra-fine pattern behind the panel. This is to be achieved in an industry-unique 100 percent color coverage of the BT.2020 Standards of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) result.

    Samsung Micro-RGB TV Features

Powered by Samsung’s micro RGB AI engine, the TV will also use AI processing to precisely control the red, green and blue backlighting for “a next-generation color display” as well as optimized image and sound quality. The technology analyzes each image in real time and automatically optimizes the color output for a more lifelike and immersive image.

According to Samsung, micro RGB TV “hardly distinguishable from reality”
Also via AI, Samsung’s Micro RGB Color Booster Pro function should also recognize scenes with matte shades and improve the colors of all content for a more vivid and immersive image. In addition, according to the manufacturer, the display has “Micro RGB Precision Color”, which, with fine and precise control, should provide “depth and dimension for a level of detail that is almost indistinguishable from reality” and, according to the announcement, should be certified by the German VDE Association of Electrical Engineering Electronics Information Technology.

Other features include glare-free technology against display reflections, a slim metal design and Samsung’s Vision AI for various smart TV functions. In addition, the TV should be protected by Samsung’s Knox security platform and offer a 7-year upgrade program for the Tizen operating system. In the USA, the new Micro RGB TV should be available at a recommended retail price (RRP) of 29,999 US dollars, as well as in Korea. In addition, further worldwide market launches with a “variety of sizes” are planned.
