The next Motherboard manufacturers declare their AM5 models future-proof: Both Asus and Asrock certify their B850 motherboards with official Zen 6 support.
About a week ago, the first motherboard manufacturer confirmed with MSI that the current AM5 motherboards with an 800 chipset are also equipped for the future in the form of AMD’s Zen 6 generation. Meanwhile, two more companies are being tempted to make such a promise: both Asus and Asrock independently announced a similar form of support.
Asrock/Asus: B850 is suitable for Zen 6
At Asus, this is evident from a marketing datasheet that is currently circulating through the ITHome portal. The “AYW Gaming OC Wi-Fi 7” B850 motherboard here speaks of a doubled capacity of the BIOS module from 32 to 64 MB – with explicit mention of the Zen-6 compatibility.
Asrock, on the other hand, is getting a little more concrete: in a video on the Chinese platform bilibili on the recently released “Steel Legend B850 Wi-Fi 7” motherboard, the Zen-6 term clearly falls. In contrast to the Asus solution, however, the BIOS capacity here remains at 32 MB.
However, the official data sheet of the mentioned Asrock motherboard lists only the support for Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 both on the official website and at online stores that offer the model for around 164 euros. This should change at the latest with the official announcement of Zen 6 by AMD – the increased support promises on the part of the motherboard manufacturers indicate that not much patience is needed anymore.
